Transparent materials are often the weak point of a reprographic workflow. Even studios equipped with high-end cameras and solid reprographic columns may struggle with improvised illumination, insufficient light output and curling film in many different formats.
Dedicated film scanners have become harder to maintain and increasingly difficult to replace. Many studios that previously relied on high-end virtual-drum film scanners, including Imacon/Flextight-type systems*, are now moving towards camera-based digitization workflows.
In this approach, the lightbox becomes a critical part of the imaging chain: it must provide high output, stable colour, good film flatness and fast manual handling.
Reprobot LB275.M was designed to turn this difficult part of the workflow into a controlled, efficient process. It helps position, flatten and exchange photographic originals quickly and safely. It accepts transparent materials in various sizes — from popular 24×36 mm film up to 4×5” negatives and slides, and everything in between.
It provides a powerful, stable and high-quality light source for consistent results. Its aluminium construction makes it solid and stable. And last but not least — it is safe and simple to use.

Powerful, high-quality illumination
LB275.M uses an LED panel with almost 300 modern diodes, selected for stable 5700 K colour temperature and very high colour rendering accuracy: CRI > 98.
With 56 W of electrical power, the panel delivers up to 120,000 lx at the surface of the digitized material — an unusually high output for a reprographic lightbox.
This makes it possible to digitize at very short exposure times, like 1/250 s, while keeping the lens at an optimal aperture and the sensor at native ISO sensitivity.*
Short exposure times reduce the impact of external vibration and ambient light, helping maintain a fast, repeatable workflow.

Fast manual film handling
The MicroTilt Cradle™ turns LB275.M into a fast manual handling platform for transparent materials. The film is held flat and stable by magnetic pressure, helping achieve excellent flatness without complex clamping or time-consuming preparation.
A one-finger release allows the operator to open the cradle, advance the film manually to the next frame and return to the working position in one simple motion. This makes frame-by-frame digitization fast and repeatable, without removing the film from the holder. In a well-prepared workflow, a full roll of 35 mm film can be digitized in under one minute*.
The standard MicroTilt Cradle is supplied for 24×36 mm film. Medium-format versions are available as an option.

Magnetic holder system
The lightbox can be used with a dedicated magnetic holder system for transparent materials from 24×36 mm to 4×5”. The holders are made of steel and magnetic sheet, and are positioned in a guided aluminium holder plate.
The holder plate replaces the MicroTilt Cradle plate. Both plates attach magnetically to the top of the lightbox, allowing the operator to switch between both workflows in seconds.
In addition to standard holders for single frames, Reprobot offers optional strip holders for negative film. Used together with masks installed in the holder plate, they help reduce the time needed to position individual frames and improve scanning efficiency. With the mask removed, several frames can be captured at once.

Safe, simple operation
LB275.M is built for high light output without forced air cooling. A large aluminium heatsink, together with the aluminium body and working plates, provides passive thermal management, even when the LED panel is used at high power. No fan means no unnecessary airflow around sensitive materials and... silence.
The built-in microprocessor controller offers three brightness levels: low for reviewing and positioning materials, high for most transparent originals, and very high for special tasks such as dense film or very short exposure times. Mode selection is sequential and controlled with a single button, while a colour LED indicates the current device status.
Safety features help prevent the light from being left on unintentionally. The unit is powered from an external 24 V DC power supply with a 1.5 m cable, keeping mains voltage away from the working area.
Because LB275.M can emit very strong light, we recommend using protective eyewear and avoiding direct viewing of the illuminated surface in high and very-high intensity modes.
