MRC900 motorized reprographic column with desktop base and camera head

MRC900
Desktop, motorized reprographic column.

Precise, quiet and fast camera positioning for professional reprographic workstations.

MRC900 is a compact column for building a full-featured reprographic setup on a small footprint. It needs only a solid desk or tabletop of about 50×60 cm (20×24”), yet its 900 mm / 36” working height provides a practical range for transparent materials, small and medium-size reflective objects, photographs, prints and books.

Designed for everyday digitization work, MRC900 combines motorized vertical movement with a precision manual head, stable aluminium construction and quiet, comfortable operation.

It can be placed at a comfortable working height, allowing many positioning and focusing operations to be performed while seated. The column can be unpacked, assembled and prepared for work in just a few minutes.

Practical working range

With a 900 mm / 36” column height, MRC900 provides a comfortable working range for A3/B3 originals using both small- and medium-format camera systems with short macro lenses.

For larger flat originals, an optional extended head spacer can increase the usable field. With selected camera and lens combinations — for example, a full-frame camera with a short standard lens around 35 mm — workflows up to A2 format are possible.

The precision head supports camera systems up to 4 kg / 9 lb, allowing MRC900 to work with most contemporary photographic systems, including cameras with larger or more complex optics.

Despite its working range, MRC900 needs only about 50×60 cm / 20×24” of desk space. With a weight of approximately 12 kg / 26 lb, the column remains stable in use while still being portable enough to be moved by one person.

Stable, comfortable desktop work

MRC900 was designed for daily work with small and medium-sized originals — the kind of material that often dominates real reprographic practice. In this range, a compact desktop column can be more efficient than a large floor-standing copy stand, especially when the workstation is arranged for seated operation.

The column can be placed on a solid desk or reprographic table at a comfortable working height. Motorized vertical movement allows the operator to adjust camera position without lifting or lowering the head by hand, while the wired control pendant allows positioning and focusing without touching the column — reducing vibration during precise framing and focusing.

A heavy base helps keep the system stable, and built-in rubber dampers reduce the transfer of vibration from the working surface. The result is a compact workstation that is easy to operate, quiet in operation and comfortable for long digitization sessions.

Precision head and manual control

MRC900 is equipped with a rigid, high-precision camera head designed for fine geometric alignment of the camera position.

The head provides three adjustment stages. A geared goniometric stage allows controlled tilt adjustment in the YZ plane, using a worm-drive knob and mechanical lock. A second, lockable rotary stage controls tilt in the XZ plane: the camera can first be positioned manually, then fine-corrected with a micrometric screw. The final stage provides linear X-axis adjustment by sliding the Arca-Swiss camera plate.

Together, these adjustments allow the operator to correct small alignment errors precisely and repeatably, without compromising the stiffness of the camera mount.

For manual operation, the column includes a hand knob for height adjustment and a mechanical brake, that locks the camera head securely in the selected position.

Safe and quiet motorized movement

MRC900 uses a motorized vertical drive for smooth, repeatable camera height adjustment. The operator can move the camera quickly and comfortably.

The column is controlled with a wired pendant equipped with a joystick, three control buttons and an LED indicator. The joystick provides two movement speeds: 2 mm/s for precise positioning and 20 mm/s for fast travel. Dedicated step buttons allow fine height adjustment in 0.15 mm increments.

The standard 0.5 m RJ45 cable is intended for placing the pendant on the column base, close to the photographed material. Longer pendant cables are available as an option and are useful when the operator’s desk or computer station is placed away from the column.

The microprocessor motor controller includes overload protection. If the camera head reaches an obstacle, the controller stops the movement, helping protect the operator, original materials and photographic equipment.

The movement is quiet and predictable, making MRC900 suitable for daily studio work, archive rooms and digitization spaces where comfort, precision and safety matter.

System-ready design

MRC900 is designed to work as part of a compact Reprobot workstation. When used with the LB275.M lightbox, both devices can be powered from a single 24 V DC power supply via the distribution socket built into the column controller.

This keeps the working surface clean, with only a short cable between the column and the lightbox.
